I love, love, love finding bargains or getting great deals on hair, beauty and skincare products. It’s one of the things that make the happiest. Ulta, CVS, Target and Sally Beauty Supply are all part of my top 5, in no particular order. Within the last few years TJ Maxx rounded out my top 5 stores for beauty and skincare finds.
TJ Maxx has easily become one of my favorite stores because I can find prestige beauty and skincare products, sold by high-end major retailers, to try for a fraction of the price. If the price is right and the product reviews are on point I will likely try any beauty or skincare product at least once.
It’s a win-win situation for me and the product brand. I don’t have to give up all my coins to try something out but, if I like the results chances are the next time I purchase the product I will go straight to the source. I’m also more inclined to check out other products offered by that particular brand.
Side note: That is exactly how Philosophy’s Amazing Grace has become my all-time favorite fragrance. Now, I keep the Amazing Grace fragrance, shower gel, olive oil body scrub and whipped body crème on reserve. Special occasions, spending time with someone that I really enjoy and sparingly during my self-care Sunday routines. Those are the only times I use my Amazing Grace. So, if you catch me with it on consider yourself truly special.
When I shop for beauty and skincare products I have a list of items to purchase or look at. But, of course, shopping at TJ Maxx is a little different. It’s just me, two to three aisles of products and whatever customer reviews I can find while I’m there. I look through reviews on Amazon, the company website and other stores that carry the product, if available, before actually committing to making a purchase.
During my most recent trip, I was hoping to find an eye cream. No such luck, but I did pick up the Seriously Glowing Facial Serum by ACURE.
I LOVES, YES WITH AN 'S' AT THE END, ME A GOOD FACE SERUM! Since, I’m over 30 now you know I have to take a more serious approach to my skincare routine.
I had never heard of this particular brand before, but from what I could tell, the entire line of ACURE products offered on Amazon has great reviews. I paid $5.99 for the 1 ounce bottle of Seriously Growing Facial Serum. The same size bottle can be purchased on Amazon for $13.61.
The product information says that it’s organic, vegan, sulfate free, paraben free and cruelty free. The serum works to correct the signs of aging and is ideal for normal to dry and mature skin types. After applying a moisturizer, warm 1-2 pumps in the palm of the hand and press into the face, neck and décolleté. Now, let’s talk about these ingredients, which leads me to my next point.
Safflower seed oil, sesame seed oil, pumpkin seed oil, borage seed oil, argan kernel oil, sweet orange peel oil, cranberry seed oil, lavender oil, olive fruit oil, rosemary leaf oil.
I think it’s safe to call this product more of an oil blend rather than a serum. It definitely does not have the consistency of your typical face serum. If you are not familiar with applying oils to your face, the feel of this product might take some getting used to. If you are looking to use essential oils as part of your routine, this blend would be perfect.
I have been using the Seriously Glowing serum for about three weeks now. The product says that it can be used underneath makeup and at night. I have sensitive combination/oily skin so I only use it at night after I have applied my nighttime moisturizer and a little goes a long way. So far, so good. My skin feels softer and appears to be less dry after I wash my face in the morning. I have noticed that I’m reaching for my oil absorbing face wipes much less throughout the day, which is a HUGE PLUS.
The jury is still out on this one for me. I love essential oils and already incorporate them into my skincare routine. I don’t know that I will re-purchase this particular product but based on the overall reviews of the ACURE brand, I will be looking into trying out some of the others (from Amazon because they're cheaper and I have a Prime Membership).
Love you, mean it.
