3 Face Masks to Try on Self-Care Sunday

3 Face Masks Blog Post.jpg

A few days after coming home from vacation in Mexico and dealing with the after effects of Hurricane Harvey I was extremely exhausted. So, I decided to indulge in extreme self-care. I took an extra week off from work and spent time either resting or pampering myself. I’m a HUGE skincare product junkie and performing some sort of skincare routine is a stress reliever for me. This was the perfect time for me to try out a mask I picked up during a trip to Walmart. I was super excited to try this particular one because it was a bubble mask. Well, I tried it and loved it. I loved it so much, I went back to Walmart to repurchase the same mask along with two others.
Side note: This is not a sponsored post. All opinions expressed below are completely my own.

Couple of things I fell in love with before even trying the product:

  • Variety of masks, which means a variety of benefits for different skin types.
  • Sample size packs. SAMPLE SIZE PACKS! For $3.30!!! BRUHHHH! There’s enough product in each pack for at least two uses. I honestly wish more skincare brands would offer sample size products for purchase. We both win in situations like that. I can't say this enough; it's a great way for brands to build trust among consumers.

I purchased three sample pack (I don’t even know if that’s the correct term for it, but that’s what I’m going with for now) masks by Soo Ae from Walmart.

The Charcoal Clay Bubble Mask has ingredients like activated charcoal, bentonite clay and of course, oxygen bubbles. Perfect for my combination skin! As soon as I applied the mask I could feel it working. It’s a very different feeling from your typical face mask, but in a good way. After I washed the mask off my face felt squeaky clean and I felt like my pores were tightened.

The Donkey Milk Sleeping Mask is supposed to restore balanced nourishment and moisture to the skin. I was hella skeptical about this one. This was my first time trying an overnight mask. Serums, yes. But, a mask? It just didn’t seem plausible to me. I’m so glad I gave this mask a chance because it delivered! Hands down, best face mask I’ve used in a while. My face and lips felt moisturized and completely re-hydrated. Don’t judge me but any product I apply to my face for moisture, in most cases, I apply to my lips also, unless it explicitly specifies not to do so. Gotta keep ‘em supple, lol! During the winter months I change up my skincare routine because my skin can get extremely dry. I will likely use this mask at least once a month during the cold months.

I was so impressed with the other masks that I automatically expected great results from the Acai Berry Revitalizing Sleeping Mask. This mask aims to deliver revitalization and nutritional benefits and leave skin moisture-plumped, luminous and glowing. Funny enough, that is exactly how I felt after using the Donkey Milk Sleeping Mask. However, I didn’t notice much of a difference after washing the mask off the next morning. I just chalked it up to not being the right type of product for my skin type.

My Peter Thomas Roth mask trio should be very, very jealous. I’m most definitely a fan of Soo Ae now. I’ll be purchasing full-size bottles of the Charcoal Clay Bubble Mask and Donkey Sleeping Mask. I’ll also be trying other product by Soo Ae soon. If you’ve tried any products by Soo Ae, let me know in the comments. Also, let me know what other masks you use as part of your skincare routine.

Love you, mean it.
